‘Where are the goals coming from?’
FT: Man City 3-0 Birmingham City
Lindsay Johnson
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
Birmingham didn’t have an outlet. They had nobody to play up too. Rachel Williams had to go looking for the ball and they never looked threatening.
Even from the set-pieces it didn’t happen from them. They’ve got to work on it.
Where are the goals going to come from? That’s what’s worrying for me.

‘Professional performance’
FT: Man City 3-0 Birmingham City
Lindsay Johnson
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
It was a really good, professional performance from Manchester City. I still think there were some more goals they should’ve had. Their quality on the ball and passing was very good.
Birmingham struggled, particularly during the middle part of that second half.

CLOSE!
Man City 3-0 Birmingham City
This is good play from Man City, working the ball in to the area, and the move almost ends in a fourth goal, but youngster Lauren Hemp – who made her senior England debut earlier this week – slots just wide at the back post from Tessa Wullaert’s low cross.

‘A quality finish from Lee’

She’s been a bit wasteful with the ball but that was a quality finish at the far post and the goalkeeper unfortunately didn’t have a chance. It came at her with some power and fizz into the bottom corner.

SUBSTITUTION

With the hosts now cruising, England’s Jill Scott goes off and 17-year-old Jess Park comes on.

Man City 2-0 Birmingham City
In case you’re just joining me with 15 minutes to go, England midfielder Keira Walsh put the hosts ahead in quiet first half, before Belgium’s Tessa Wullaert doubled the lead after the break, turning home Canada forward Janine Beckie’s cross.
Wullaert and Lauren Hemp have both hit the post for the hosts as well, while Birmingham are yet to really test Ellie Roebuck in the hosts’ goal.

-
Post update
Man City 2-0 Birmingham City
From what we’ve seen of Birmingham with the ball, unfortunately it’s been quite hard to see how they’ll score a goal today.
They’re yet to have a shot on target this afternoon.

Here come the hosts again and it’s Tessa Wullaert, in to the area… But it comes back off the inside of the post!

Man City look a lot more threatening now and Canada forward Janine Beckie’s low strike is stopped by Hannah Hampton.
-
Post update
Man City 2-0 Birmingham City
The offside flag was up actually so I’m not sure if Steph Houghton’s effort would have counted anyway, if it had been on target.
-
CLOSE!
Man City 2-0 Birmingham City
Caroline Weir whips in a cross from a left-wing free-kick and Steph Houghton is unmarked in the middle, eight yards out… But it’s wide from the England captain!
