  1. Post update

    Q2: Australia 14-14 New Zealand

New Zealand up their speed and quickly get the ball to Maria Folau, who scores.

Australia are like a mirror image of their opponents, though. They find their own GS – Caitlin Bassett – to level things.

  2. Post update

    Q2: Australia 13-13 New Zealand

    Sharni Layton

    Former Australian netballer in Liverpool

The crowd were calling ‘held ball’ to try and influence the umpires!

  3. Post update

    Q2: Australia 12-13 New Zealand

There’s still nothing to separate the two sides as New Zealand work the ball into Maria Folau.

She misses, but Ameliaranne Ekenasio grabs the rebound and scores.

  4. Neutrals definitely want a New Zealand win

    Anna Thompson

    BBC Sport in Liverpool

There is certainly good support for Australia but the neutrals – overwhelmingly England fans – would like to see a New Zealand win.

The cheers when they score are definitely a lot louder than when the Diamonds do!

Julie Price:okay, so the netball is sooo far removed from what we played at school but I’ve loved it – the commentators though have been a different league with their infectious enthusiasm – brilliant to listen to!

  6. Post update

    Q2: Australia 10-11 New Zealand

Laura Langman sends a long ball to Maria Folau, but it’s too long. Luckily Aussie arms knock the ball out of court and give the Silver Ferns another chance.

Maria Folau misses (what is going on?) and again the Diamonds defenders hit the ball out of court.

Third time lucky? Ameliaranne Ekenasio lands her shot.

  7. Start of second quarter

    Q2: Australia 10-10 New Zealand

The players are out on court and ready to go again.

Can you handle another 45 minutes of this?

    New Zealand have first centre.

  8. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-10 New Zealand

    Sara Bayman

Former England captain on BBC Sport

It’s impressive that when things got tough the Silver Ferns hung in there. It was their defence that kept them in this first quarter. They actually looked nervous but will be happy at 10-all.

  9. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-10 New Zealand

    Sara Bayman

Former England captain on BBC Sport

We’re so used to Maria Folau sinking everything that it’s a shock when she misses any sort of shot.

  10. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-10 New Zealand

This is going to be a very, very good netball match.

Australia looked as if they were going to dominate but New Zealand came right back.

  11. End of first quarter

    Q1: Australia 10-10 New Zealand

Ameliaranne Ekenasio scores from mid-range and it’s tied!

Australia try to send a long ball into Caitlin Bassett off their centre, but there’s no time for a goal.

What a comeback from New Zealand.

  12. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-9 New Zealand

New Zealand are having to pass back a lot, but eventually Maria Folau is free under the posts and scores.

The Silver Ferns have less than a minute to score their centre and level things before the break.

  13. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-8 New Zealand

Maria Folau has missed a few, but that doesn’t stop her going for a long-range shot.

Maybe not the best idea. She misses again. One and a half minutes left in the quarter.

  14. Post update

    Denise Evans

    BBC Sport in Liverpool

I was right. There’s plenty of adopted Kiwi fans in here right now.

New Zealand are slightly on the back foot in the opening exchanges but the crowd is willing them on.

Australia coach Lisa Alexander is calm as you like on the bench as the Silver Ferns then go within one goal of her side.

Ferns coach Noeline Taurua cuts a far more animated figure in her corner.

  15. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-8 New Zealand

That ball was a littletoohigh to Caitlin Bassett.

It flies over the backline and New Zealand get possession.

  16. Post update

    Q1: Australia 10-8 New Zealand

Caitlin Bassett scores it and Australia extend their lead.

  17. Post update

    Q1: Australia 9-8 New Zealand

Laura Langman puts a bit too much on a pass to Maria Folau and the GS can’t keep it in court.

Turnover for Australia with three minutes left in the quarter.

  18. Post update

    Q1: Australia 9-8 New Zealand

Australia throw the ball straight at Jane Watson and New Zealand have the chance to try and even things up.

Maria Folau scores and now it’s New Zealand’s centre.

  19. Post update

    Q1: Australia 9-7 New Zealand

Jane Weston almost gets fingertips to a high ball to Caitlin Bassett. The GK doesn’t quite get there and the Diamonds captain scores.

Maria Folau slots another one at the other end.

  20. Post update

    Q1: Australia 8-6 New Zealand

Jo Weston is all over Maria Folau. Folau looks like a different player to the one who dominated England’s defence yesterday.

Luckily for New Zealand, Australia’s shooters cause contact at the other end and the Silver Ferns get another go.

    Ameliaranne Ekanasio nets it.
