Strike activity: Cross River laborers challenge Wike mandate, stay at home

Striking state and neighborhood government laborers in Cross River on Wednesday challenged the express government’s mandate to get back to work.

Government workplaces stayed shut as the strike activity entered Day Two in resistance of the order of the Head of Service, Geraldine Akpet-Ekanem, who said laborers that neglected to get back to work would confront extreme assents.

Coordinated worker’s organizations involving the Nigeria Labor Congress, Trade Union Congress and the State Joint Public Negotiations Council countered the HoS mandate and requested that the specialists stay at home.

As indicated by Bulletin 3 named ‘The Government should serve the residents’ given by the Action Committee of coordinated work, it said, “The Head of Service, Mrs Geraldine Akpet-Ekanem is deceiving the lead representative.

Rather than her paying attention to the predicament of laborers, she is undermining and attempting to scare laborers.
