  1. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

Enda Stevens is caught by Felipe Anderson and Sheffield United have a free kick midway inside the West Ham half. It is played short before John Fleck’s cross is deflected behind for a Blades corner, which West Ham deal with.

    Sheffield United 0-0 West Ham

    Rob Green

Former Chelsea and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

David Moyes will want his West Ham players to slow the game down, make it low energy and not the high tempo game Sheffield United like because realistically, they won’t be able to compete with that for 90 minutes.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

David McGoldrick is just offside as he races on to a good ball over the top. The striker will be desperate to get his first ever Premier League goal tonight.

  4. Post update

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

The camera angle at Bramall Lane is a little more elevated than most and it gives a good tactical eye on what’s happening on the pitch.

Impressive already to see Sheffield United quickly create a defensive block after losing possession, forcing Felipe Anderson to run from right to left rather than try to break towards the box and an early chance for the Hammers to do something is gone.

  5. KICK-OFF

    Sheff Utd 0-0 West Ham

The first Premier League game of the weekend is under way!

  6. ‘West Ham will have to be organised’

Sheffield United v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

    Rob Green

Former Chelsea and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

What David Moyes can’t do in the space of two weeks is improve players’ fitness, so it’s going to be really tough for them. They are not the best mobile of teams; they haven’t got the energy of Sheffield United, so how do you compensate for that? You have be more organised and save your legs. It’ll be a interesting contest.

  7. Post update

    Sheff Utd v West Ham

Chris Wilder gives a thumbs up to a few people in the crowd as the Blades boss is applauded by those around the dugout after he signed an extended contract a few hours ago.

It has been a good Friday so far for Sheffield United fans and three points tonight will make it a great one.

Sheffield United have a good home record against London clubs, will that continue tonight?

The light show theatrics are done and dusted and the players are heading out on to the pitch.

  9. Light show

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Bramall Lane

It is becoming almost obligatory at Premier League grounds now but there is a pre-match light and fire show at Bramall Lane.

    Helps create a fantastic atmosphere.

  13. Lawro predicts

Sheff Utd v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson

    Ex-Liverpool defender

New West Ham boss David Moyes has two wins out of two so far, but after beating Bournemouth and Gillingham, this is a much bigger test.

Sheffield United beat AFC Fylde in the FA Cup last time out but they have lost their past two Premier League games, although they did face Manchester City and Liverpool and were very competitive in both.

I am going to go for a draw here, and I actually think it would be a decent result for both teams.

    Prediction:1-1

Adam Varley:Sorry Mr Moyes but we just don’t care anymore about the Tevez affair. It hurt at the time, we’ve been through the mill but now we are back in the Premier League and had best news tonight about Wilder’s new contract, Carlos who?

  15. McGoldrick’s time?

Sheff Utd v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

Will today be the day that David McGoldrick gets off the mark in the Premier League?

He’s had more shots without scoring than any other player this season.

  16. Gedson Fernandes on Hammers radar

Sheffield Utd v West Ham (20:00GMT)

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Bramall Lane

Gedson Fernandes is someone of interest to West Ham.

The proposal is for an 18-month loan, although no deal is imminent despite reports to the contrary and other clubs might be interested in the 21-year-old Benfica midfielder.

Some West Ham fans wore Carlos Tevez masks to taunt Sheffield United supporters when the two sides met in London in October, and some of those masks have made their way up north for tonight’s game.

    The cheeky scamps.

They may be separated by more than 200 miles but there is something that links these two clubs and adds a bit of spice to the encounter.

Back in 2007, West Ham retained their Premier League status at the expense of Sheffield United, with Carlos Tevez scoring the winning goal in the Hammers’ final game of the season.

The issue, however, was that the deal to bring Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham broke rules surrounding third party ownership. The Blades were eventually awarded £20m in compensation but it took them 12 years to regain their Premier League status.

“I am sure it does still rankle up there,” says David Moyes.

“But if I were a Sheffield United supporter I would be looking at this new generation, this new era. They’ve got a really good up-and-coming manager in Chris Wilder and some fantastic players.”

  19. Stearman swaps Sheff Utd for Huddersfield

Sheff Utd v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

Some Friday evening departure news concerning Sheffield United.

Defender Richard Stearman has left the club to join Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

  20. ‘Wilder gets the best out of players’

Sheffield United v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

    Rob Green

Former Chelsea and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The route Chris Wilder has taken [to the Premier League], he’s really ground his way there and it’s fantastic to see – the new contract is well deserved. Sheffield United play good football and he’s getting the best out of his players and they trust him. He’s taken players who aren’t necessarily Premier League players or have been in the Championship and has stuck with them. It’s phenomenal what they have achieved so far.
