Ohanaeze Ndigbo holds Igbo summit May 21 in Awka

– The summit will review among many other issues, the current state of the nation – The group would also hold a gathering and a mega rally in Makurdi, Benue and Lagos respectively after the summit The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo has said it will host an Igbo summit in Awka, Anambra state’s capital city on May 21. Vanguard reports that the summit is part of the decision reached at the Ime-Obi (inner caucus) of Ohanaeze on Tuesday, May 8. NAIJ.com gathered that the Igbo summit is aimed at giving an opportunity to Nigerians of Igbo extraction to review the state of the nation and fusion out a common stand on various issues.

Sources with good knowledge of the proposed event said after the summit, there will be a gathering and a mega rally in Makurdi, Benue and Lagos respectively. Also confirming the proposed summit, the special adviser on media and publicity to John Nnia-Nwodo, the national president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said the highlight of the Imeobi meeting was the unanimous adoption of the Professor Soludo-led Committee’s template on restructuring.

Emeka Attamah said the template would be presented to an Igbo Summit that would be held on the Monday, May 21.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was thrown into Nwodo’s house located in Ukehe, Enugu state. Confirming the attack, the police said that no lives lost to the explosion and that the explosion was caused by a very low device thrown into Nwodo’s compound by some unknown persons.
