The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Sunday evening dismissed the rumour making the rounds that Eze Isaac Kanu, the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Abia State, and father of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is dead.
Speaking with News Express, IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said: “No, the man is hale and hearty. He is not dead. He only had shock when he got the news of his wife’s demise and that’s all. It is of cause a normal thing for any man to have when his wife dies.
“It is a rumour by rumour mongers. There was a time they said Nnamdi Kanu had died. Such things always happen.”
It would be recalled that Kanu’s mother died on August 30 in a German hospital after a brief illness associated with the shock she got when her family house in Afaraukwu was invaded by Nigerian security officials, leaving heavy human and animal casualties in the process.
Information gathered by News Express has it that her corpse has already been flown down to Nigeria.
