AWKA – Rt. Rev. (Dr.) Alexander Chibuzor Ibezim, Bishop of Awka, Anglican Communion, has warned that unless something urgent is done to stop the reckless killings in Nigeria, the blood of innocent Nigerians would seek vengeance.
Ibezim said in an interview in Awka, that the blood of humans is sacred and was not created by God to be wasted like that of fowls as done daily in Nigeria.
Speaking with Sunday INDEPENDENT at the Cathedral Church of St Faith, Awka, he encouraged all to identify with the victory of Christ on the Cross and stop all killings, kidnapping and other atrocities against human beings.
He called on government at all levels to take full responsibilities of protecting her citizens to ensure that peace and tranquility prevails in the society.
Ibezim condemned in its totality the incessant killings in the society, saying it is unbiblical and unethical.
“Human blood is sacred and a human being is created in the image of God. The blood of those killed will ask for vengeance, so, all should desist from anything that will bring bloodshed,” he said.
He encouraged all to identify with the victory of Christ on the cross of Calvary and called on Christians to re-examine their lives to know if they are still in faith.
He also called on Christians to hold on to their faith, demonstrate humility and be steadfast in Christ at all times.
Bishop Ibezim maintained that the death and resurrection of Christ is the basis for Christianity and that Easter gives Christians hope of resurrection, victory and life after death.
