SMS Message: David Moyes is just too cautious. Subs often left late BUT this match should not reflect how they will play over next month. from Rob, Kent

David Moyes is just too cautious. Subs often left late BUT this match should not reflect how they will play over next month.

  2. SUBSTITUTION

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Both sides make changes as the excellent Kevin de Bruyne is replaced by lkay Gundogan.

Jarrod Bowen, meanwhile, is on now for his West Ham debut. He replaces Snodgrass with a touch over 10 minutes to make an impression.

  3. Post update

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Lovely ball by Kevin de Bruyne as he chips to Gabriel Jesus on the left side of the box. The striker takes a touch before volleying at goal but straight at Lukasz Fabianski. West Ham then break quickly but Michail Antonio runs into trouble as he tries to take on the City defence alone.

Scott Kelly:Moyes got team selection wrong. Start with a strong attack, perhaps Bowen, Haller, Anderson etc and they could have nicked a goal early on, with the stress City are under, who knows what could have happened? Got to do this if they’re to beat the drop

SMS Message: What did West Ham expect when they appointed Moyes? A manager without success for a decade. Hideous appointment. from Luke, Portsmouth

What did West Ham expect when they appointed Moyes? A manager without success for a decade. Hideous appointment.

  5. Post update

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Michail Antonio cuts inside Bernardo Silva but fires high and wide as City fans taunt a wasted West Ham opportunity with ironic cheers.

  6. Post update

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Kevin de Bruyne tries to pick out Sergio Aguero’s run but Angelo Ogbonna heads away. With nine of West Ham’s 10 outfield players in and around their own box it is no surprise as City pick up the ball and come forward again.

  7. Post update

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Sergio Aguero’s shot is blocked as Manchester City keep up the pressure on that very deep West Ham defence.

City are playing with confidence and the freedom a two-goal lead gives them and this could get much, much worse for West Ham.

  8. Post update

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

Looking at West Ham’s upcoming games, they’ve got it really tough with Liverpool, Southampton, Arsenal and Wolves on the horizon.

All tough games and go into them with a similar attitude to this game and I’m struggling to see where they get the points from.

Khan Karn:That is terrible keeping by Fabianski. West Ham need to have a go now.

Josh Henderson:Moyes should have brought on Bowen at half time, I know he’s scared to take a risk but it’s hard to see how West Ham’s performance could be made much worse at the moment

  10. SUBSTITUTION

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

The win surely wrapped up, Pep Guardiola opts to take no chances with Aymeric Laporte, who had missed the last three games for Manchester City with fatigue and the defender is replaced by John Stones.

  11. ‘De Bruyne at the heart of City again’

    Man City 2-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Inevitably when you come to watch Man City play, the man at the heart of it is Kevin de Bruyne. He cuts inside, plays a one-two with Bernardo Silva and he comes running on the outside, gets there first and just passes it in between Fabianski’s legs and into the back of that West Ham goal.

  12. goal

GOAL – Man City 2-0 West Ham

    Kevin de Bruyne

    And there it is!

Kevin de Bruyneand Bernardo Silva exchange passes before the former drives in just inside Lukasz Fabianski at the near post.

Pep Guardiola celebrated that one and it is surely three points in the bag for City now.

  13. Post update

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Bernardo Silva clatters the stanchion at the back of the West Ham goal as Manchester City continue their pursuit of a second.

This will still be a bit too tight for Pep Guardiola and he will want the comfort of a second goal.

  14. ‘Man City fans have nothing but admiration for Zabaleta’

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Zabaleta comes back to a place he’s got such warm memories of and the Man City fans have nothing but admiration for what he achieved here over the years. He always gave his all, was always at his best and always demanded a lot from his team-mates. He was a very tough opponent to play against and in his last season he’ll get another opportunity to play in front of this Manchester City crowd.

  15. SUBSTITUTION

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

David Moyes is deep in conversation with Robert Snodgrass as Ryan Fredericks gingerly makes his way off the pitch, clutching his shoulder.

Here comes Pablo Zabaleta and everyone in the ground rises to their feet to applaud him on.

  16. Post update

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Break in play here now Ryan Fredericks needs some treatment after coming out worse from a clash with Rodri.

Doesn’t look like Fredericks can continue but look who is about to come on – Pablo Zabaleta. The ex-Manchester City man, playing in his last season in the Premier League, is sure to get an incredible reception here.

  17. ‘The ball boy waited all night for that’

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It looks like his boss has just had a word with him and explained the whole of the ball has got to go out. Watching it back the whole ball didn’t go out. He’s waited all night for that ball to come near him and he was certainly out of his chair quick when it did.

  18. Post update

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Sergio Aguero flashes an effort just wide of the far post. Oh, this is an unusual moment. The ball doesn’t actually go out of play, stopping on the line and a poor eager ball boy picks it up to roll back to the keeper, not realising it hadn’t gone out of play. The referee then has to give a drop ball, explaining to the players what happened.

The poor lad looks crestfallen but a City staff member pops over to give him a reassuring tap on the shoulder and a little word.

  19. ‘David Silva will be missed’

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

When David Silva finally does leave Man City I for one will truly miss him. To watch him pick up the ball in terrific positions, his elegance, his touch. We’ve spoken about it for years but just watching him there this evening and knowing he’s about to leave this Man City side, it’s going to be really disappointing for me.

  20. Post update

    Man City 1-0 West Ham

Declan Rice cuts out a sloppy Rodri pass and does ever so well to beat three Manchester City players before crossing into the box.

Rodri, back defending, and Tomas Soucek clatter as they both go in for the challenge but referee Kevin Friend gives a free kick Manchester City’s way.
