Fire Breaks Out In Onitsha’s Main Market, Anambra State


Onitsha, Anambra State, November 28, 2022: A section of the popular main market is on fire.
The fire, which is said to have started around midnight, remains unsolved.
Obenta Jude, a market trader, stated that the fire has destroyed two blocks of shops in the Kano Street area of the market.
He stated that the fire continued to rage despite the efforts of firefighters who arrived quickly to put out the flames.
The incident was confirmed by Fire Chief Engineer Martin Agbili, who stated that his personnel were immediately dispatched to the location after being informed.
He stated, “On Monday, November 28, 2022, around 2.20 a.m., the Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call reporting a fire in Kano Street, Onitsha, behind Main Market.
“On the other hand, we sent our fire truck and firefighters to the fire scene, where they have been working ever since.They have gone for topping off of the fire engine two times.”
