  1. Post update

    Lydia Greenway

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

It can be a challenge for the players when you look at forecasts and it looks bad. There is always the chance that you can get on and it’s brilliant that we have.

  2. Sciver goes round the wicket to the left-handed Haynes. Maiden over.

  3. WATCH: ‘Superstar’ Perry reaches her century with an overthrow

And here’s how Ellyse Perry reached her century in slightly unusual fashion:

There’s Beth Mooney, Jess Jonassen, Ash Gardner, Sophie Molineux on debut still to come. Even if England get a wicket, it’s almost like a cat toying with a mouse.

WATCH: Ecclestone drops Haynes at square leg

    Here’s that drop from earlier…

    Post update

What’s just as remarkable is that not only have we not lost any play to rain (as had been forecast), but the blue skies above Taunton indicate we’re not likely to, at least for a while.

  7. What you’ve missed so far…

If you’ve just joined us, while the players take drinks, take a look at the morning’s highlights so far.

    Basically, it’s Australia hitting fours…

I think we might see a different gear from the Australians now. They still have so much in the shed.

  9. drinks-break

With the landmark century reached, Australia are more pro-active against Ecclestone, starting to pick up singles at will.

And after an hour of play, the participants have earned some drinks.

    BBC Test Match Special

Ellyse Perry was completely patient. She waited for the moment, it was a sloppy piece of fielding. She doesn’t care, she’s got her hundred which goes into the record books.

  11. How’s stat?!

    Phil Long

    BBC Test Match Special statistician

That is now 314 runs off 621 balls for Ellyse Perry.

  12. Aus 297-3

    Perry 101, Haynes 69

Perry removes her helmet and lofts her bat in celebration. And as though a bottle has been uncorked, the singles are starting to flow.

She joins Betty Wilson, Enid Bakewell and Claire Taylor as having hit back-to-back centuries in successive Women’s Test innings.

This Australian superstar just keeps doing it.

  14. sport-100

    100 for Ellyse Perry

    Aus 295-3

Australia are all out on the balcony of the Andrew Caddick Pavilion in expectation – Ellyse Perry, on 99, clips the ball into the leg side – straight to a fielder, but a throw to the bowler’s end is misfielded and they’re able to run an overthrow!

What is it about Perry? Her double century at North Sydney Oval had to be celebrated twice after she thought she’d hit a six but four was signalled.

  15. WATCH: Haynes’ ‘glorious’ straight drive goes for four

This has arguably been the shot of the day so far.

Video caption: Haynes sends Sciver to the boundary with a fine straight drive
  16. Aus 294-3

    Perry 99, Haynes 68

Having shelled that chance, Ecclestone has to bowl now – it’s a pretty good over, Haynes guides a single to fine leg. That puts Perry on strike on 98, two balls of the over left… two fielders in the short extra cover area, but she guides a single to their left. To move to 99.

And despite those weather forecasts of doom earlier, blue skies are now sweeping across Taunton as the clouds disperse.

  17. Post update

    Melinda Farrell

    BBC Test Match Special

That was 100% a drop. Similar to the Heather Knight drop on day one, that is another missed opportunity for England.

    This was the Knight drop…

  18. drop-catch

    Haynes dropped on 66

    Aus 292-3

Oh dear, that’s a drop… Rachael Haynes tries to pull Nat Sciver through the leg side, it goes pretty much straight to Sophie Ecclestone at square leg, she gets both hands to it… but can’t cling on. Australia haven’t given many chances in this game – and you really, really need to take those.

It has been metronomic and relentless from Perry today.
