Eguavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Coach After AFCON 2021 Exit

Augustine Eguavoen has ventured down as the interval mentor of the Nigeria public group.

This follows the Super Eagles’ 1-0 loss to Tunisia in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 conflict on Sunday.

Eguavoen had driven the three-time champions to three straight successes against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.

In any case, they missed the mark against a Covid-stricken Tunisian group in the knockout stages.

“What occurs next is that I’m the between time mentor and Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“I will return to my position and permit the NFF (to) settle on a choice on the way forward,” Eguavoen said after the match.

Eguavoen stepped in after Gernot Rohr was sacked the month before.
Nonetheless, the NFF reported Jose Peseiro as the new long-lasting mentor before the AFCON started off.
