The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has revealed when President Muhammadu Buhari would decide on whether to extend the COVID-19 lockdown placed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states.
The task force chairman, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, made the revelation on Tuesday, saying that Buhari would by the end of this week decide whether the locked down would be extended or not.
He spoke during a briefing of the task force which held in Lagos. He said that only President Buhari could take a decision on the issue concerning the lockdown over COVID-19 containment.
He said, “The President will decide on whether to extend the lockdown or not when we (the Presidential Task Force) report to him at the end of the week.”
He specifically commended the Lagos State government for its efforts, as well as the people of the state for their cooperation to curtail the spread of the virus.
Noting that people should understand that Coronavirus remained read, Mustapha warned that one “person can endanger an entire community.”
He said that members of the task force came to Lagos to examine the isolation centres in the state, as part of the responsibilities of the team.
