THE REAL MADRID GIANT IS SPECULATED TO LEAVE THE LA LIGA HEAVYWEIGHTS AFTER THIS SEASON. IT SEEMS HE DOESN’T WANT TO LEAVE
Zinedine Zidane has put his fate in Real Madrid’s hands by stating that he wants to remain head coach at the Bernabeu next season. But he himself admitted that his future will depend on results. With the last year’s Champions league holders sitting third in La Liga, 15 points apart from their nemesis Barcelona, and relying on the Champions League for a major trophy this season.
A disappointing defense of their domestic title, a shocking exit to Leganes in the Copa del Rey, and a poor start in Europe, where they finished second in the group behind Tottenham, has added to put Zidane’s position in suspicion. “Yes, I would still like to stay as coach of Real Madrid,” Zidane said.
“Things depend on the results, it has not changed, it will not change, it is the requirement of this club and I accept it. I’ve been here 18 years, I know how Real Madrid functions. I do what I like doing, I do it thoroughly and if the question is, do you want to continue? Then yes I will continue. I do not feel tired, not at all.”
However, his team is looking on track to defend their Champions League title. With a win against Paris Saint Germain a major boost, Real would take on Juventus in the Quarterfinal and a win on the last year runners-up will help Zidane’s cause. “We hope to take second place, little by little,” Zidane further added. “Of course we have our minds on Tuesday but tomorrow we have a match and to execute on Tuesday, we have to execute well tomorrow.”
