Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has explained why there are two players that Barcelona star Lionel Messi has yet to best.

The Ivorian will know a thing or two about scoring goals having dominated the Premier League at times during his times at Chelsea.

Though, it’s safe to say that Lionel Messi has surpassed him and the majority of footballers in history in terms of goals and quality.

Now, the debate of who is the greatest of all time continues to rage on in the footballing world.

Some think Lionel Messi, some think Cristiano Ronaldo but Didier Drogba has given his opinion today.

The former Chelsea star has suggested that Messi is better than Ronaldo, but has also named two players that Messi is yet to best.

While they may not be present in football, it’s safe to say their legacies will live on for years to come.

Those players come in the form of Napoli legend Diego Maradona and Brazil legend Pele.

“Messi could stop now and he would already have done a lot for football,” the Chelsea legend told AFP.

“To win a World Cup would make him even more legendary. He’s an extraordinary player!”

While some still consider Messi to be the greatest of all time, he still has time in his career before people can judge.

Safe to say, if he continues scoring at the rate he is currently, he could well reach some incredible figures.

Maradona (ex-Argentina): “I would advise Messi to keep playing, to enjoy the game. He has to forget about the critics, if he can win or not the World Cup, the Champions or the Copa del Rey. He doesn’t have to demonstrate anything. He has to enjoy the game into the field.”

Leo Messi to spend three days training at Real Madrid

If Lionel Messi is to be considered the best in the world, he must produce on the international stage.

Though, training with Argentina comes with a few problems.

That is because Messi will have to spend some time at Real Madrid.
