Chelsea were late comers to the immediate past summer transfer window, which saw them bolstered only their midfield. Although they have had a barnstorming start to life in the Premier league this term, they are expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the January transfer window.
Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have just one goal between them this season and for the Blues to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United, they need a more prolific striker.
One player tickles the fancy of Maurizio Sarri since his days in the Seria and that’s Ciro Immobile, who has been scoring goals with reckless abandon over the last two seasons and the Blues may be on his case when the transfer window comes alive in January.
Immobile is vastly experienced and since joining Lazio from Sevilla in the summer of 2016, he has been in blistering form – over the course of the last two seasons, the 28-year-old star has scored one goal more than Cristiano Ronaldo. He scored 52 goals in 70 appearances for his side in two seasons.
Given the nature of the transfer window, Immobile will command a bogus transfer fee and Lazio could even ask that one of the Chelsea players be included in the deal.
There is no telling if Chelsea will be able to sustain their current form but they need a prolific striker to be able to complement the potency of the midfield.
