BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea Agree £45m Bid For EPL Most Wanted Centre-Back, Manchester Clubs Heavily Linked

Chelsea are preparing to table a bid for Belgium and Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld, this is according to report.

The Blues are already in the market to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming season and they are beaming their searchlight around London.

Alderweireld has a  year left on his current contract with Spurs and he has knocked back their new and improved offers for him. Tottenham and Chelsea are bitter rivals not just on the pitch but in the transfer window as they both hardly sell players to each other.

Their bitter transfer rivalry started in the summer of 2005 when Frank Arnesen forcefully left White Hart Lane for Chelsea to seal a deal.

The Sun claims that Chelsea will launch a  £45m bid for the 29-year-old in the summer. The Blues are not the only club vying for the player’s signature. They may have to contend with Manchester United and Manchester City who were also heavily linked with a move for him.

Spurs are in a dilemma over the player’s future as the activation of his one year contract extension clause would see his £25m release clause become active for 14 days. Spurs are resigned to losing the star claims the report and they are lining up a swoop for Matthijs de Ligt .
