Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has aimed a subtle dig at Liverpool and Manchester City.

Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League as they suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Barcelona.

That leaves only Liverpool and Manchester City as the Premier League’s representatives in the European competition.

However, Conte thinks that the remaining English sides will not lift the trophy come May.

The Italian has instead backed other heavyweights such as Real Madrid to emerge successful and challenge Barcelona for the honour.

“Barcelona, with Madrid and Juventus and Bayern, these four teams are favourites to win,” Conte said.

“We are talking about a team [Barcelona] that has won the Champions League and arrive at the end with the same teams.”

Conte also moved to hail Lionel Messi after the attacker scored a brace against his Chelsea side.

“We are talking about a player that can move the final result,” he added.

“He plays for Barcelona and will finish his career here.

“He is fantastic and a player that is able to move the final result.”
