ASUU Strike : Board Of Vice-Chancellors Sends Message To Lecturers,FG

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) has approached the National Government and the Scholastic Staff Association of Colleges, ASUU, to determine waiting issues to end the continuous strike.

The Director of the council, Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo, expressed this in a meeting with the  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.

He said it was essential for the two players to reach a consent to end the strike at the earliest opportunity.

He asked them to respect arrangements went into for scholastic exercises to start in the impacted colleges.

"We have proactively given a public statement emerging from the gathering of the overall get together of the board of trustees.

"We said that ASUU and the National Government ought to agreeably determine all waiting issues," he said.

Edoumiekumo, who is the Bad habit Chancellor of Niger Delta College, communicated good faith that the issues would be settled soon

NAN reports that ASUU had on Feb. 14 set out on a strike to squeeze home a requests including a require the public authority to execute the Notice of Activity (MoA) endorsed in December 2020 on subsidizing for the revitalisation of state funded colleges.

Different requests are Procured Scholastic Stipends, renegotiation of the 2009 arrangement and the organization of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) among others.

The Clergyman of Work and Business, Dr Chris Ngige, had on Friday expressed that the National Government and ASUU would continue discussion this week. (NAN)
