AFCON 2021: ‘Even my grandmother would have given Egypt penalty’ – Carlos Queiroz laments 1-0 loss to Nigeria
Egypt mentor, Carlos Queiroz has hammered the video collaborator arbitrator [VAR] for not giving his side a punishment during their game against Nigeria on Tuesday.
Nigeria crushed the North African monsters 1-0 in Tuesday’s Group D conflict at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Furthermore the Portuguese lead trainer is charging that his side was denied a punishment ten minutes to the furthest limit of the game.
The Egyptian players were all around the ref, Bakary Gassama, to give them a punishment, demanding Moses Simon had fouled Zizo.
VAR was counseled and after the audit, the middle official’s underlying choice stood.
Queiroz said that even his ground mother would have recognized the foul and granted a punishment.
“In the final part, there was a punishment extremely clear for us that the official didn’t whistle, and the VAR didn’t intercede,” the Portuguese mentor said, as per Africa Foot United.
“Perhaps around then the VAR was not working. There was obviously a punishment. It was not our day, it was likewise not a decent day for refereeing.
“Indeed, even my grandma would have blown for this punishment on the issue on our player. It’s a debacle since there are arbitrators from VAR.
“This is unsatisfactory. Watch the activity yourself. It’s stunning that with this multitude of refs, nobody showed the issue.”
